This Privacy Policy explains what information Classic & Confident (classicandconfident.com) collects when you visit, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. In this policy, “I”, “me” and “the site” refer to Classic & Confident.
Information I collect
- Contact form: if you send a message, I collect the name, email address and message you provide so I can reply.
- Comments: if you leave a comment, I collect the details in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.
- Newsletter: if you sign up for emails, I collect your email address (and name, if you give it) to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Automatically collected data: like most websites, the site and its partners collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, time spent on the site, referring website and approximate location. Some of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies, as described below.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. The site and its partners use cookies, pixels, local storage and similar tools to keep the site working, remember your preferences, measure traffic, show and measure ads, and track affiliate referrals. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended.
Analytics
I use analytics services such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. These services may set cookies and collect information such as your IP address and device details. The information is used in aggregate to improve the content. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
The site shows ads to help keep the content free. Ads may be served by Google AdSense and by Journey by Mediavine (Mediavine, Inc.), and by the advertising partners they work with. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to show ads that may interest you, limit how often you see an ad and measure how ads perform.
Google AdSense
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- You can also opt out of many third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
Journey by Mediavine
The site works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising through its Journey program. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the site, which may use first-party and third-party cookies. Mediavine and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed and other browsing data, and may combine it with data from other sites. You can read how Mediavine handles data in the Mediavine Privacy Policy, and you can manage your choices through the privacy settings link shown on the site.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer or affiliate network may set a cookie to record that you came from this site, so that I can earn a commission if you make a purchase. Classic & Confident is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. See the Disclaimer for more details.
Embedded content
Articles may include embedded content such as Pinterest pins or videos. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you had visited that website, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content.
How I use your information
- To run, maintain and improve the site and its content.
- To reply to messages and moderate comments.
- To send the newsletter, if you sign up.
- To show and measure ads and track affiliate referrals, as described above.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
Who I share information with
I do not sell your contact details. Information may be shared with service providers who help run the site (such as hosting, security, email and analytics providers) and with advertising and affiliate partners as described above. Under some US state laws, allowing advertising partners to collect data through cookies for targeted ads may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and you can opt out as described below. I may also disclose information if required by law.
How long information is kept
Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and for my records. Comments and their metadata are kept so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Data collected by analytics, advertising and affiliate partners is kept according to their own policies.
Your privacy rights
Visitors in the EU, UK and EEA
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Ads and non-essential cookies are only used with your consent, which you can give or change through the consent banner shown on the site. Where consent is not the basis, data is processed for legitimate interests such as keeping the site secure. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Visitors in California and other US states
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. To opt out, use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or privacy settings link on the site, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which is honored as an opt-out request. You will not be treated differently for using these rights.
